Telephone City — birthplace of Alexander Graham Bell and home of the Six Nations
What to know before you book
Brantford is famous as the birthplace of Alexander Graham Bell (inventor of the telephone) and home to the Six Nations of the Grand River — the largest First Nations reserve in Canada. The Bell Homestead National Historic Site, the Woodland Cultural Centre (premier Indigenous art and heritage museum), and the revitalized downtown core are the main draws.
Brantford's location in the Grand River valley between Hamilton (45 min east) and Kitchener (30 min north) makes it a good affordable base for southwestern Ontario exploration. The city has also become known as a hotbed of NHL talent — Wayne Gretzky grew up here.
